Jessica Selert
Teacher
Pre-K
I graduated from Kean
University with a BA in Psychology. After graduation I
worked in a group home with troubled children and then moved
on to teaching preschool for autistic children. I
finally found my niche in life. After being a stay at
home Mom I decided to go back to teaching. The first
and only place I looked was Manahawkin Methodist Preschool.
My family had a great experience with this preschool, so I
felt that I should give back.
My goal is have your children experience new things in a fun
way while preparing them for Kindergarten. For every
letter that is introduced, your child brings in an item
beginning with that letter for show & tell. We also do
journals, letter books arts & crafts and sometimes we even
come to school in our pajamas. We sing, dance, play
outside, read stories and have special guests. During
the holidays we always have great projects for Mom and Dad.
Your child will have the chance to learn some computer
skills while playing an educational game. Science
lessons are also part of our curriculum. Your children
will learn about a microscope and look at all sorts of bugs,
fibers and anything we find on a nature walk. At the
end our our day we eat lunch and talk about our favorite
thing for that day. And most days my favorite thing is
seeing all the smiles from my class.

Letitia Kolbman
Teacher Three Year Old
This is my eighth year
working in the Three Year Old class. I started our tin the
Beginner room when the school was small and we only had two
classrooms; one for Beginners and another for 3's & 4's. As
our school grew I moved 'up' to the Three Year Old class and
have been there ever since. I have a degree in business and
a certificate in food service management along with many
courses in childcare education. When asked, "What do you
want to be when you grow up?" My answer was always "A
Teacher." After many years working in the hospitality
industry I finally fulfilled my dream here at the preschool.

Michelle Dahlberg
Assistant Three Year Old
My career prior to coming
to the preschool was in management and business. I graduated
from Kutztown University in Pa. with a BS in Psychology.
After working for several years, I
found out how rewarding it is to be with children. Six
years ago I volunteered to be a Girl Scout Leader. I have
been with the same girls since they were in kindergarten.
Watching them grow and sharing many opportunities and
activities with them has been a very special time. While my
child was enjoying his preschool time at the Manahawkin
Methodist Preschool I was given the opportunity to become a
substitute. That was four years ago and now I am very happy
and excited that I became a full time employee in our Three
Year Old room with by being a teacher aide, Mrs. Kolbman I
am given a wonderful chance to help organize our classroom
and bond with the children. I love to encourage the
children to take steps toward their independence in a
positive nurturing way. When I come to work and see the
children's smiles or get hugs I feel rewarded.

Steinberg
Teacher Three Year Old
I worked as a sales
manager for a financial company for approximately 4 years. I
soon realized the best part of my job was training our sales
staff. I decided to leave Bloomberg Financial Markets and
pursue a career in education. After taking some education
courses at Richard Stockton State University an opportunity
to teach Spanish in the Stafford Township school district
came about. I completed the Alternate Route Teaching program
for elementary education and taught Spanish taught Spanish
in Stafford Township until my first child was born. My goal
for the children in my classroom is to inspire a love of
school and learning. I work hard to make sure each student
feels comfortable, safe and happy and most of all that
school is a place where they can try new things and make new
friends. My curriculum covers a variety of themes that
include; All About Me, Teddy Bears, Music, Dental health,
Nutrition, Weather and of course holidays. Each theme allows
the children to learn and test their developing skills. For
example, on Valentines Day the children were given
conversation heart candies. We used them to do a variety of
including playing bingo, counting, sorting and even graphing
our class favorites. This is a fun way for beginning math
skills and listening skills to be learned and practiced.
During the day the children also get an opportunity to make
their own choices and work on their social skills through
free play and various centers set up in the classroom. These
combined with projects, finger plays, books and positive
discipline allow the children to become students, and if
I've done my job they will be students for life!

Lori Martin
Assistant Three Year Old
I am the assistant in the
three year old room with Mrs. Steinberg. On Tuesdays &
Thursdays I am the teacher in the Beginner room. I have a
set of twins in the Primary Learning Center in town who
spent two years here at the preschool. I have a background
in babysitting both from home and for Jazzercise. As
an
assistant I aide in helping the children with the task at
hand such as projects and play. As the teacher in the
Beginner room we work on singing songs, identifying shapes
and colors and social interaction among the children. My
children had such a good experience here that I wanted to be
a part of carrying that on for other children. |
Jennifer Andransky
Teacher Beginners Room
I really enjoy working
with this age group because the kids are so honest and fun.
And I love watching them change from 'babies' to little
people. My background consists of being a dental assistant
for a pediatric dentist for seven years. I helped with the
procedures but more importantly it was my job to keep the
young children calm and comfortable. My degree in Early
Childhood education coupled with recreation coordination at
a summer camp prepared me for the this position. In the
Beginner room we work of socialization, fine and gross motor
skills and interactive play. We have circle time, art
center, reading center, learning center, kitchen, and when
weather permits outdoor play. During circle time we sing,
review shapes and colors, talk about the weather and share.
In the art center we work with play dough, paint, crayons,
glue, markers, glitter and shaving cream. We read both
individually and as a group in the reading center. Our
learning center houses puzzles and discovery bottles (a
favorite). We also spend time talking about nature and love
to explore outside by going for walks and playing in our
play area. The kitchen center is lots of fun, you can often
see some role playing as the children interact with one
another. |

I am the assistant teacher

old is also a cheerleader! Working at the preschool, having
my own children and being a crossing guard my life is filled
with children and keeps me busy. |
